Statutory declarations are common as well as versatile documents. Saggi Law Firm is glad to provide to our clients with these legal documents.
In a statutory declaration before an official notary, a witness makes a solemn declaration to stated facts’ authenticity. By comparison, affidavits are only applicable within court proceedings. Statutory declarations are every bit as official but applicable beyond a courtroom:
- Statutory Declaration in Lieu of Guarantor
- Statutory Declaration concerning a lost, damaged, theft, destroyed or inaccessible Canadian passport
- Statutory Declaration of Common Law Union
A statutory declaration only verifies that a Notary Public properly administered an oath to specific facts. It is not itself a validation of facts. Statutory declarations typically cost less than $40 and require that the individual(s) making the declaration verify identity with official photo ID.
